I think the reason people are so divided on them is because they're far more personality-based than other starters (other Pokemon in general, really). Decidueye is suave yet dorky, Incineroar is tough yet over-the-top, and Primarina is elegant yet playful. It's no wonder that people either love or hate them.
I'm personally not sure how I feel about Pokemon having such clear personalities, but I do know that it's a trait that all three have. So, if you have a problem with one of them having a certain personality, then you really have a problem with all three. I think we're all better off just enjoying the one that we happen to enjoy and only shitting on others for problems that are specific to them.
All this said, I like the Primarina line because they're goofballs.
