>Regular evolutionsI enjoy flashy shock and awe to accompany an evolution. A bright flash of light, a huge surge of concentrated energy, and then a sudden metamorphosis. That magical ordeal makes Pokémon awesome. As a creative writer, why not address consequences associated with evolution? Like what cyanspark said
>>33748171, there could be an “easing in period” following the evolution itself. At least for a short while, the Pokémon might need to adjust to its new powers, body type (especially extra limbs or heads), weaknesses, diet, how it uses moves, etc. This is subjective and would depend on the Pokémon in question like tex talked about
>>33748167. If the writing is good, each evolution will be a little different too depending on the circumstances surrounding it. All in all, evolution is a gold mine for the imagination.
>Mega evolutionsThe body of the Pokémon changes dramatically from power absorbed by the Mega Stone. The effects are supposed to be temporary and wear off after battle. My theory: A Pokémon that continuously taps into this power risks losing the side of itself that could not Mega Evolve. In other words, they may start to behave differently by having such a powerful form readily available to be used or abused. This has the potential to change a Pokémon’s personality more than regular evolution.
