>>53498997>have no desire at all to perform on a stage, or even to attempt to get badgesGod I'm thinking about this again 2 days later and it actually feels even dumber than I already thought it was, I guess because I'm playing one of the games now and realizing just how pathetic Diamond and Pearl really are in the context of their world.
I just can't believe that both of them just have apparently 0 interest in even trying to get one single badge. Not even like they tried once and found out they didn't like it; just from Day 1 the possibility of them being anything more than glorified cheerleaders never even crossed their minds. Like even one good-faith attempt to do one gym and determine if it's for them or not; it's all I ask. Obviously yeah not everyone in the Pokemon world is going to beat the league or whatever, just like not everyone IRL is going to do the Olympics. I get that.
But like if you're hanging out with a friend and they're casually doing some sort of sport or activity or hobby or game or literally anything you've never tried before but that they're clearly really interested in, you wouldn't at least TRY it once with them as long as you're not literally crippled or something, even if you wouldn't necessarily be the best? (fighting in gyms doesn't even cause any harm to the trainer so there's actually less of a barrier to entry than there'd be for a sport or something IRL) Like do these two just have no natural sense of curiosity or individual drive to expand their horizons at all? It's like saying "welp, it's unlikely I'd ever become an Olympic medalist so what's the point of even exercising lol, I'll just watch sports on TV." It's not even like they've got families and careers to be more concerned about; they're fucking 11 on a free ride and they're acting like worn-down middle-aged men
It's actual soulless NPC behavior.
i probably sound pretty crazy, but i wouldn't hate this arc so much if i didn't really want to like it
