If the exploration is bland/nonexistant
If it's grindy or a breeze to play through.
If there's 0 thought put into the story or characters.
Generally if there's no heart and soul put into the games, I feel they're not worth my money. I know pokemon's entire franchise is basically a cash grab, but there has been at least some heart put into the games from Gen 5 and backwards. Gen 6 seems to have lost it. That's why I'm going to play it safe with Gen 7 and try before I buy (pirating).
