I fucked up. Walter got hit by a Giovanni's Kangaskhan. I got the Silph Scope, got the Poke Flute and grabbed the Super Rod as fast as I could to replace Walter as soon as possible, but my first try was a fucking lvl 5 Tentacool and then I got a Krabby, which I want to save to when there's the physical and special split. So I'll probably use the Slowpoke, even though I wanted to save him for a future game.
Besides that unfortunate accident, everything is alright. Vulpix was at lvl 20 when I catched it, but I leveled it up and managed to solo the gym, since Dux was being a bitch since the level cap for traded mons was 30.
