Palkia is a bit confusing, with the neck wings and the exposed back that doesn't really look like anything (and not seen in sprite form so why is it there?), but Dialga looks cool and they both play to the Dragon type, Dialga getting a bunch of resistances while Palkia loses resistances in exchange for a royal STAB combo along with ample means to break the few things that can block it. Pre-fairy anyway. If anything it is their reality-deity status that's underwhelming- Groudon and Kyogre fit their bills better. Dialga and Palkia are just because.
