Manon and Alan clearly care for each other more than one would an average person, and Alan is now trying to "return her smile" and Manon wants to be with Alan because she's stronger when she's with him and all that jazz. Worrying about each other, yadda yadda. But there's been nothing really specific that would make it romantic or anything like that. Not even blushing, the go to shipping nonsense indicator. They're just close.
A lot of it probably comes down to age, which you noted there. Manon looks like she's supposed to be generic Pokemon trainer 10 year old and Alan something older, more like the MCs of XY. If she's actually that young, not unlikely given her just having started out, and not just small or Alan is mid teens and not a freakishly tall 10 year old, it's unlikely the show is angling towards any romantic.
