>>42532525>But that's exactly what you answered "Yes" to.I'm saying the player shouldn't be able to use the first six mons he finds and freely win every battle. I'm not saying the player can't put a Ledian on their team and still win. Using weak Pokemon is fine so long as the team can make use of them. Using only weak Pokemon because there's no reason to use anything stronger and there's no reason to come up with a strategy for them is just boring.
>Then I think you've forgotten what Pokemon is aboutI don't think Pokemon has to be "about" any one thing. You're trying to say that the player would only want to use OU teams but there are any number of different Pokemon that can be used in single player to great effectiveness. Hell, people give Reborn shit for not giving the player a full OU team before the end of the first route but having to come up with tactics to emphasize the strengths and minimize the weaknesses of your party is what makes the game more engaging than just taking whatever mons you like and not having to worry about challenge.

>>42532364None of those Pokemon are OU material and some of them may not be player favourites, but they can be fun to use because of how they change the dynamic of the gameplay. It's less about just picking whatever Pokemon can ohko the opponent as fast as possible and more about figuring out the best ways you can weaken the opponent while giving yourself an advantage over them.
I'm not saying easy games don't have a place in the series. The entire mainline series is made for you and the vast majority of fangames are made for you, too. The people who want something that actually challenges them are basically stuck with Reborn and Rejuvenation, and those games have more than their fair share of problems.
I, personally, genuinely just find it pointless when I can catch whatever and just win because nothing in the game will ever pose a threat beyond making me kill wilds for a few minutes to level up.
