From a nice high damage attacking option with good neutral coverage in the early gens to having it's equivalent of Earthquake removed on the physical side and it's only option on the special side being Hyper Voice, with Boom Burst only having three STAB carriers and two of them dexcut lol.
I'm not even sure what niche GF actually has for Normals on either spectrum offensively or defensively. Grass can resist 2 common typings and has higher then average BP moves+good utility moves, Bug has Quiver Dance+a 90bp move that bypasses Sub for special mons and STAB U-turn for physical among stuff like Mega Horn or First Impression at least.
