>>42322299>>42322399the difference between the third versions and swsh dlcs is that third versions mostly included new things that were going to be in base game, but gf lacked time to implement, like alternative forms for legendaries in gen 4, or something that they wanted to massively improve upon, as gf was disappointed with the results in the base game, like the battle tower vs battle frontier of gen 3. not to mention that these games served as "patches" of sorts, they changed content due to balancing or complaints, and genuinely made the games better, on top of adding in new content
swsh dlc is literally just going to be "content drops" that games as a service have these days, meaning that rather than including every single pokemon in code, letting people transfer them, even if they are not catchable, they will instead bring them over, little by little, releasing the game super early, and completing it as the time goes on,, or cutting out locations at the last minute and adding them in as "brand new content", and hyping it up as such. we will hopefully have a "complete" game by this time a year or 2 from now, when gf is getting ready to release the next game, and if you want the "full experience", you will have to pay 2 to 3 times the cost of the full priced game as well. this is fallout 76 in pokemon form, just like that game came without NPCs, sword and shield came with most of the pokemon missing, this DLC is the equivalent of the wastelanders update for 76. I should mention that any content drop, aside from cosmetics, is free for 76, so gamefreak is managing to outdo even todd howard, in this regard
