The only point for Clefable-Gengar is that their shape look kind of similar and that Gengar is a shadow
(but honesty it's just a fat humanoid shape, something that is extremely easy to come up with)
For Venonat-Butterfree you have two very similar creatures with literally identical features and body shape going through natural maturing process and gaining wings. Even people without Pokemon knowledge are able to immediately make the connection. It's just undeniable as legitimate theory.
