How come the new season of the anime isn't directly based off Sword/Shield? Sure, it'll promote a lot of the new Pokemon, but it's not going to take place 100% in the Galar region, and instead of Ash's partners being Galar characters, they're all OCs. This is kinda weird considering how integrated the anime and the video games tend to be, even if they do have their differences. I feel like this hints at something about Gen 8's future, but I can't figure it out. It makes me think about that one theory about how Gamefreak is losing influence as being the #1 moneymaker when it comes to Pokemon video games.
