So, I enjoyed X and Y immensely after their release. I had a fun time completing the story, collecting as many Pokemon as I could, and battling online. However, after a couple months it all got... boring. I still love Pokemon and get on my 3ds from time to time, but it almost feels forced.
I feel like the main Pokemon games, and almost all Pokemon games for that matter, have a focus that is too narrow. With a couple exception, they're all about fighting. Now, this is cool and all. If I lived in a world as awesome as the Pokemon one, I'd probably engage in some competitions of my own. However, that's all we do in Pokemon games! NPC's in the game always go on about how awesome it is living with Pokemon, or doing stuff with Pokemon. You know, stuff that doesn't involve fighting.
I personally love franchises like Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. I like playing a game about life. I can't help but wonder why Nintendo or Gamefreak hasn't created some sort of life sim game with the Pokemon franchise. I can't help but feel as though there is so much wasted potential by only releasing Pokemon games focused around becoming the best trainer.
Just some thoughts I had while staring blankly at my 3ds. Picture unrelated.
