GBA Red is has more uniform, toy-like colors than before but strikes a distinct silhouette, Ethan had a fashion update from overly baggy to better fitting clothes that don't compromise his image (its the change in his face that did that), Brendan doesn't look like he's wearing a top-to-bottom matching set of one brand of sport clothes anymore. But then on the other side of it you have one pig-tailed girl with strange fashion sense being replaced by... ANOTHER pig-tailed girl with strange fashion sense, while May's new duds end up being a pile of little details for their own sake that doesn't even look better than the 12 year old getup its trying to update. Let's Go Green feels like the one time a feMC redesign has really clicked (and in the game that brought back 96' Red, what moment).
Coincidentally if you swap out Dawn out of this image for... Hilda you get my top five. Johto girls dress silly but they still cute.
