That being said if there was any battle that could epitomize everything wrong with the Alola League it's Ash Vs Hau. There's a lot to unpack here as to why this battle is so damn bad so I'm going to need two walls of text. Firstly it's a 1v1. Hau has at least two Pokemon his final battle has him only using decidueye. Is there anything more disappointing then reaching the point where all trainers are supposed to be giving it their all only for all trainers to not be allowed to do so because the writers just really didn't care.. But to be fair, who does care about Hau? He had no personal connection with Ash and only existed to give rowlet the seasonal "it's okay to not evolve" episode. He had no real stakes in his rivalry with Ash at all. they were 1-1 and rowlet's arc was done. pointless. but that isn't the worst of it.
