I personally don't mind whether people play doubles or singles, but what needs to be added to this discussion is the fact that BSD/VGC is completely dead on ranked cart ladder compared to BSS. Just how dead? Click around on sites like
https://pokedb.tokyo/ and you'll find ranked singles racking up 10x more accounts than both doubles formats combined registering a score season upon season going back years.
One would hope that the devs would take a hint at some point and give the official singles format some more support.
