Apparently is either one or the other. God forbid Digimon has some good sides that Pokémon lacks, while Pokémon also has the upperhand for some other factors that Digimon is lacking.

Personally, I love Digimon far more than I will EVER like Pokémon, but I can realize that it is kinda messy, in a way.

The people who make Digimon do not know how to manage it anymore, and are only appealing to nostalgia. Imagine what Pokemon is doing, but worse.

It will always pain me... It could have been million of times better than Pokemon, but it never found its way. The people in charge changed the formula far too much, and never stick with one thing.
