Some people fantasize about being a trainer, but personally, I wish I was a Pokémon. I would have sentience on top of harnessing incredible abilities and being free to explore a breathtakingly vibrant world. It sounds like the ultimate adventure and a hell of a lot better than my reality. The fact that this universe is mere fantastical escapism, and that it will never exist, is soul-crushing. The wistfulness is pointless and naïve, but I cannot avoid the yearning for something better than this existence.
