The "FOSSIL Pokemon" from "Pokemon Sword & Shield" and the new species of amonyte found in Hokkaido.
Two worlds that continue on to the future
In the Galar region, he scenario for "Pokemon Sword and Shield", 4 new pokemon classified as "FOSSIL Pokemon" such as DracoZolt and others, were discovered.
They are truly unique pokemon made from combining 2 FOSSILS.
On the other hand, in our world new fossils are also discovered.
On January this year, within Hokkaido, the newly discovered Amonayte was named "yezoceras elegans" by me.
Its has a weird husk which makes it part of the Nostoceratidae.
Both the appearance of these new "fossil Pokemon" and the discovery of this new species happened while preparing the exhibition so we quickly decide to label them "new discoveries in both worlds".
It was a moment where my years-long research on amonytes and pokemon crossed paths.
We wanted to close the exhibition with the "Discoveries on both pokemon and ancient life continue on to the future" message.
I will feel very happy, looking forward for both new pokemon and new species, the kids that today visit the "Pokemon fossil exhibition" become tomorrow's researchers that discover new fossils.
