>>55755201I didn't want to just make a pinup drawing without providing the chance for some character development, so I knew before I had even started coloring that I wanted to include the rest of Phos's team somewhere in the background. Ideas ranged from Malamar rising out of the ocean like Cthulhu or holding its arm blade like a shark fin to scare a tuber kid, to Scrafty buried up to its neck in the sand while Murkrow uses its stick to scrawl "SEND NUDES" on the beach. Ultimately, I decided on a group photo that allows their personalities to mesh.
Murkrow wanting to give a melon the Suikawari treatment while Malamar plays keep-away, Scrafty holding onto Phos's glasses for her while she swims out to the sandbar, and... wait, who's that other girl we've never seen before? And why would she be reading a copy of "Friendship for Dummies?" Something about her seems familiar, I just can't place my finger on it.
