Pay attention for once.
Gyms will open once the update is widely available and forced. Just waiting on the iOS version, which usually drops on Thursday (tomorrow), so expect the forced update Friday.
Gyms will then be open. Raids, however, will only be available to select high level players in select areas for beta testing. Raids will fully release at some point after all of the beta bugs are smoothed out, most likely by the start of the Chicago event.
The Anniversary date is Soon. Expect an event then (first week of July).
