Who needs Johto Pokemon when Koffing is enough?
Also, randomness is a good way to check enemy's psyche. Your opponent may be annoyed, or even lose concentration in battle. This is beneficial. Additionally, it is good if you don't like to be bored (even though every battle ends in your win because you use Koffing).
Alakazam is for scrubs, don't use it. Or any psychic type for that matter.
