Like, there's some sort of planet wide network with the capability of compressing pokemon into pure data and storing them into a pokeball to be unpacked when needed, but they've only got so much "resolution" in their network and if more than six full pokeballs are too close together it can't safely do the decompression so it just moves any new pokemon to your box.
