I got second place at a League Challenge yesterday.
15 players, 4 turns with no top cut, I brought Charizard-Pidgeot as usual.
The first round was against a new player with a Roaring Moon ex deck. He didn't seem to have quite gotten the hang of sequencing yet and he was less aggressive than he could've been so it was an easy victory for me.
Then I played against a Raging Bolt ex deck. He prized most of his Sada's in the first game and couldn't do much. The next one was more drawn out with myself drawing pretty poorly at first but I ended the match with a four prizes turn using Briar + Dusknoir.
I lost the third round against a Charizard-Dragapult player. I was too trigger happy with my Dusknoirs and brought the opponent to two prizes. He obviously capitalized on that and won the first game. In the next game I was really close to winning with only one prize remaining but he managed to trap my Rotom V in the active zone while all of my energies were already attached to other mons and I had already used my Turo. That game ended in a tie when time runned out. I'm really bummed out about this match because it's not the first time I make the mistake of overusing my Dusknoirs and the match would've been totally winnable otherwise.
The last round was against an Iron Leaves ex deck that made use of Cornerstone Ogerpon to stall. On paper this should've been unwinnable for me but the opponent didn't draw into the Ogerpon in the first game and in the next one I managed to play around it with Counter Catchers and Boss's Orders so I won nonetheless.
Finished second place and got awarded with 4 regular packs and 3 prize ones. Only found a Miraidon ex from one of the prize packs and nothing else of interest.
