They are usually not interested in what others say or do and are neutral to children. Ash has always been small and most anime Charizard trainers are usually men or well trained ladies. People who were all bigger than Ash and even their own Charizard. There is also the fact Ash kept summoning Charizard for bullshit tasks which would probably make me mad too. Imagine having a high level pokemon and you only summon him to mock battle some weak ass pokemon.
