Their only flaw is being mostly shitty unforgettable moves. If they could all good like surf and could be replaced at will, or if they were actions tied to an item which unlocked the ability on any relevant mons, they'd be beloved. I have no attachment to some random Lapras, but exploring the deep ocean on the back of Blubber the Wailmer or soaring past mountains on Skarmory makes the team seem much more special than an assortment of fast sweepers to mindlessly stamp out random NPCs.
