>>41186552Last but absolutely not least: its new ability, Mimicry. With the purging of Camouflage, Galarian Stunfisk gains the notoriety of being the sole Pokemon that can change its typing based on the field terrain. Except, not of its own choosing. Or to its benefit. Seriously, not only can Stunfisk not set any terrain itself, giving it some measure of control over its ability, it would prefer to keep its excellent Ground/Steel typing in most instances. Furthermore, Stunfisk gets zero - that's right, zero - moves that can benefit from the effects of terrain. Not even Nature Power, which would be an incredibly synergistic move for this ability (and for its original special-leaning stats). By extension this means it can't even set terrain via Max Moves in Dynamax form. Its really is tragedy after tragedy for the Trap Pokemon.
Are there any redeeming qualities? Well, both Stunfisk get new access to Sucker Punch this generation, and "blessed" by its stat realignment, makes the Galar form a better user (although still inferior to Dugtrio). Also gets access to Counter, which is nice for a bulky mon with mediocre attack - one thing it can lord over Steelix perhaps. Among Ground/Steels its definitely more technical, with access to Thunder Wave, Yawn, Spite, and both Metal Sound and Screech. You can tell by looking at its moveset, with its exclusive (yet not) Snap Trap, this thing was meant to trap things in and kill them. Why then couldn't it get Arena Trap?
