Here's Medarot 5 with a similar premise and battle system, it released the same year as Crystal in 2 versions by a smaller not as well-off studio and juiced that machine dry. TCG 2 or even GS 97 had a more diverse tileset than the final release and that was a GB Pocket/Super Gameboy title. Artist do this maps out of love and respect for the source material not to spite you and they put creative work and thought behind them, I'll take this over some off colored, copy pasted FRLG tiles any time.
