Even if it's trying to become as close a pokemon as possibleThe only reason I don't like Diantha as the champion though is because we see her all of two times and in both conversations she doesn't seem to be champion material.
At the same time it strengths the point of it since she's a celebrity, and having the mega necklace probably made sense to others in Kalos to make her a champion.
