>>27399092I don't really get this. Ash triggered a mega evolution in a Pokemon who doesn't have one. It's a testament to his skill and ability to bond with Pokemon. Of course it's inherently strong since he triggers it without the energy of a mega stone, purely through inner strength. The downside is the shared pain but Ash tolerating it demonstrates his strength and conviction.
Ash-Greninja isn't just freebie plot armor, it's a physical manifestation of Ash's power level, which is where it should be after all the shit he's been through. It could have used some more build up prior to Olympia, but really it's just a mega form that takes more work.
