that hasn't been a thing for at least a decade now, hardware included.
I like the games, but I don't like the idea of paying hundreds of dollars for multiple systems and multiple games, plus, emulators just run better, hence spare me a lot of tedium.

Game Freak aren't COMPLETELY useless - over the last hardware generation they've developed most of the pieces to make a solid Pokemon game again, they're just not all in one place yet.
