Barring her various designs, I think you're definitely more likely to possibly stronger feelings regarding her if you were part of when Pokemon first came to the US since she was part present in the anime for both Kanto and Johto and usually plastered all over merchandise, granted I think her character kind of waned in the latter region.
Also her anime incarnation from Kanto and Johto is still arguably the best she has ever looked.

Unfortunately Tracey was possibly a worse character and even more limited. This probably why starting with Black and White and in XY they went with characters who could either have their goals presumably completed or significantly advanced at journey's end or characters that were present for other purposes.
Misty likely got dropped for similar reasons since her goal was always very nebulous. Short of beating or coming close to defeating all the various water gym leaders and elite four members and/or catching every water pokemon there really isn't a way to prove you're a water pokemon master.
>>30394765I wouldn't mind seeing her again in the games, possibly any past character really. Doing this type of stuff goes a long way towards showing that the world of the games is interconnected. The only downside is that so far they have a 50/50 record of whether or not they shit the bed with an old character's new design.
