this for me is why Poliwrath is one of my favourites
I caught one on my brothers Black 1 savefile when I was younger in 2012, and I grinded that goober up to a poliwrath. it brings back the nice memories of the camping trip I went to where I got him. Now I'm slowly bringing him up to be a ribbon master.

been trying to obtain a bunch of ribbons with this guy to commemorate him, so seeing this happen is quite nice to me, honestly! hopefully I'll get the friendship ribbon and the effort value ribbon one day for him. But the next stop is to try and get the Battle Maison ribbons.

If you haven't seen the story before, a quick TL;DR:
Whirly was my team's ace in black 2 when it released, and the save file got corrupted. by some miracle the save data was recovered by cleaning the board very liberally. the back of it looks like absolute shit but it works now, and I was able to fetch him and some other party members from it to my pokemon bank.
