It’s interesting that during the hype season leading up to USUM, there was an official JP-only site that also featured pokemon researchers entertaining this possibility- that ancient civilizations in the Pokemon universe were so hyper developed because of contact with the future. I do find this notable because the site was framed as a conversation between a Mulder and Scully type duo, with a debate between the skeptical and the occult. This site also featured Occulture-type paranormal articles about the UBs, funnily enough.
