Tried out Enhanced Emerald, went the Team Magma route, and man was it a trip.
You give a Magma grunt the package he was trying to get from Devon, then you go to Briney's hut (which he no longer lives in since now he's permanently at Dewford to act like a normal trainer with Peeko on his team for some reason) to join Magma. Magma seem to be outright the bad guys in this one, since you do shit like fill the waters in Lilycove with ash from Fallarbor for reasons (can't go back to Lilycove after doing that, so fuck you if you wanted anything from the shop). Eventually you get promoted to Agent so you're slightly above the grunts but not as good as the Three Fires, because of course it takes shit from Pokéspe, with Blaise in too because why not.
There's a mission after you get a few more badges where you get a call to go rob the Pokémart at Oldale for some fucking reason, then it gets treated as if you just joined some dumbass grunts on a whim who trip the alarm and you end up running off, bumping into your dad on the way, who gets fought off by Courtney with her ORAS design. Courtney feels like a weird mix between ORAS and RSE, where she's both aggressive and untrusting in your skill, and also randomly says 'analyzing' to fill the quota. No unique sprite on the overworld of course, and her battle sprite doesn't even have her hood up.
Aqua raids the Magma base, you fight them off with Courtney, and she suddenly appreciates you because you beat up some grunts.
You come back after a few more badges and Maxie's chewing out the Three Fires for failing, aiming for Courtney in particular. He sends her off to the Fiery Path for some reason, and if you go after her, you hug her because she seems sad and there you go, that's your romance route. She likes you now. Cool. (1/2)
