Indeed, the churchgoers do start getting a tad suspicious of Carrie. The girl is young and unconscious, yes, they are concerned, but the fact that they've never once seen Carrie before within their close-knit Evangelical community...Well, it's enough to warrant some degree of suspect.
Yet, before Carrie's cover can be blown, Arachna assists her by cutting the supports holding the Arceus cross up loose. As soon as she finishes, the witch hides in one of the oversized light fixtures and hopes that no one we'll be able to see her up there.
"What the....HOLY CRAP GET OUT OF THE WAY!"
A loud whirring noise directs everyone attention away from Carrie, and to the cross depicting their god. But they have little time to react, their observation is fucked to hell when the cross suddenly comes crashing down at them.
"AAAAAAAAAAH!"
"THE RAAAAAAAPTURE IS UPON US!"
"WHAT GOD WOULD ALLOW THIS TRAVESTY!?"
The cross completely obliterates the first few rows of the aisle and just barely misses Carrie. However, surprise isn't the only intention Arachna is shooting for. She smiles when sees that the head priest has fallen for the bait.
