Litten's final evolution is bad, or at least unfortunate, in many ways.
The first reason is it's general appearance. Not necessarily it's design, but it's masculinity. Remember when the starter final evolutions were powerful creatures with no specific gender connotation? Well, up until Gen 6 they were (excluding maybe Blaziken, but it was clearly based on a female chicken)
Why the fuck would you create a design that's so ripped and masculine for a starter? What girl is going to want to use some 7ft roid raging puma? Especially when the original form is so cute and appealing to girls? The same goes for that god-awful sea lion. I'm probably going to get people throwing ''REE TUMBLR'' remarks at me for mentioning gender, but honestly from a marketing standpoint this design is unwise.
With Pokemon like Machamp, Graveler, Conceldurr It doesn't matter, because they're cool fighting type Pokemon that you don't have to choose at the start of the game. But taking a gender neutral cat and then turning it into Hulk Hogan at level 36 is fucking stupid.
Another thing is it's general physique. This isn't just the second time we've had a ''big angry bipedal fighting fire type'', it's the 4th. Once again, having a cute cat turn into Emboar 2.0 is also just stupid.
And if it isn't fire and fighting, it's Fire/Dark. We already had a Dark secondary typing last gen, was it too hard to think outside the box?
It doesn't matter what you think of it's overall design, this starter is just a huge fuck up and really shouldn't have been chosen.
