Honestly, I'm at the point where I don't care. There's no reason to transfer to newer gens, all the games suck. Why would I want to move my babies to new gens where they get their stats nerfed, any gimmicks disappear from gen to gen, there's nothing to use them in except grinding wild mons, and they're liable to sit in limbo for years upon years if they aren't popular enough? No thanks.
Even if at some point the servers go down for good, and a new game comes out actually worth moving up to, there's always PKHeX. You're a fool if you don't make backups of your saves and mons anyway. Even if my house goes up in flames, I can always buy new carts and flash them back on. It'll sting not having the right copy, but it's better than putting my faith in nothing going wrong.
