It would have been much better if the player woke up with amnesia as a result of falling through a UB hole in the beginning and then a 'how did we get here' story as the player character then goes onto do the trials and join Guzma and then unravels Aether or some shit.
Lillie is a story about how GF were too fucking scared to change the default blank slate character and invented a new character to take the place as MC and instead had Lillie do everything in the story instead of the main character whose job is literally to fulfill Lillie's decisions.
