>>18971222I think the movement looks pretty good and the face/expression looks great, but there are a few things I'd suggest:
The outline on your new version is mostly one color. In official icons and like what's seen on the old icon, different grays are used in different parts of the outline. For the lower half of the icon and parts further away (tail, far legs, etc.) a lighter gray is used, and often more shading is used in areas where the lighter outlines are used. I'd suggest trying to copy the old one's outline and shading a bit.
For example, I tried applying the outline style to the new icon, and pointed out which colors I used from the palette and where. I used the darkest gray for the closest/top parts of the icon, the next lighter gray for parts slightly further down or further back but still above the middle of the icon, and then I used the middle gray for the bottom parts of the icon. For some icons I only use the two darkest grays instead of the three, so it varies depending on what works best.
The only other thing I could suggest is trying to get a more top-down angle, it looks a bit too from the side here. Though I know that's hard to pull off with a serpentine body without hiding too much detail.
