Everyone else Cynthia meets either fanboys over her, tries to challenge her and loses pathetically, tries to challenge her and wins with all the grace of a fucking ape, or just spills spaghetti out of their pockets and can barely talk to her. Nobody Cynthia meets actually treats her like a person or tries to be her friend, except for Dawn. Cynthia was so starved for regular human relationships that Dawn was able to more past Cynthia's confident stoic exterior and warm her tired heart, making Dawn the first person in a long time who Cynthia could actually interact with as an equal. But Cynthia has the emotional intelligence of a neglected child, and latched on to Dawn in a clingy sort of way. She's the only person that Cynthia can be open with, and in a way she craves Dawn's affection pretty desperately. Meanwhile all Dawn really has to do is just be there for her.
