Ash was 100% driven to become the best trainer and he did that. Nevermind he saved the world like 20 times, he just wanted to become the champion. I loved Arcaeus and S/V and I can still fire up my GBA Micro and fuck around with Gen3.
Now as for the anime,
have not watched since the orange islands, but if they change up the main characters per season/generation it would be refreshing
