I'd gather some berries and go head out to the local forest or wild life area and see who I could befriend and catch. I live in ontario so I guess the most similar region would be Unova. I think some sort of normal mon like patrat, minccino or audino would work well.
I'm currently studying library science so I could snag a job at the Nacrene City Library/Museum and live a comfy life with maybe 2 or 3 mons.
