Talonflame was based till they needed him bc it was too good.
Greninja is also pretty good
Aegislash was a fun mechanically and good if used properly.
Kelfkei was good for that gen only. Idk what happened to it.
Legendary mons were all strong bar zyguarde.
Other than that, yeah, this gen was pretty weak.
Even the psudo legend was pretty bad.

I always wondered how centralized the Rescue Teams actually are because there doesn't seem to be a head honcho running everything like an Explorers Guild or something; it mostly seems like individual groups running with no advisors but themselves and they just so happen to all be "Rescue Teams" and refer to themselves as such. I'm surprised they actually used the word "virgin" and not something more suitable for all ages like "someone pure of heart" etc. It could be that I just don't remember any, but it feels like the first time there's been something official that references sex (or in this case the lack of it) that directly.
Not that I have anything against them using the word virgin, mind you, I just genuinely wasn't expecting it since it feels like Pokèmon usually does a pretty good job avoiding things like that.

TPCi's always about how Red and Blue are extremely strong trainers, never about the fact that they can never lose, which is something they've explicitly gone out of their way to mention when introducing Leon. It's only that their feats are classified as "legendary". So yeah, you can still be a legend and lose or have lost to others, after all, what's 3 special snowflake protags defeating you compared to the vast majority of the trainers in the pokemon world. If your only losses are to trainers that are capable of going toe to toe with other champions of a region, then you can still very much have "legendary" strength.

They're called legends only because they started it all, since the first person or people to do something first are a lot more likely to be remembered over the nth person to have done it after the fact.
