Game Freak has been criticized for never adding black characters, so they made some in gen 5. But they were all stereotypical.
So they fixed that in XY by adding customization, and making black scientists, rising stars, veterans, etc. There's even a trans character.
People noted that the darkest skin color option in XY was too light, so GF added another, darker one. As a bonus, they also added a lot more black NPCs.
Not content with that, they even added a transexual Pokemon. I use Primarina on all my teams because he's represents me very well.
Still not enough? They even made the Tapus and UBs genderbender. We used to have shitty legendaries with gender roles like Latias and Cresselia, but not this gen. That's inclusivity! You can feel good by looking at them and not assigning any pre-conceived societal rules. I like to think that my Buzzwole is female, because women can be strong too!
Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon are the most inclusive games on the planet. Game Freak dared to do what nobody else would, and they deserve all the praise for it. I bought both versions and the SM N3DS to support GF. Easily the game of the year, best game in the world.
