I beat Roark with Clover, as expected, with a barrage of Absorbs and Razor Leav(es?); although the combination of Stealth Rock and Headbutt without healing items was almost hazardous, leaving Clover with only 15 HP.
I attempted to catch a Psyduck (tentative name Lemongrass) in Oreburgh Gate (I had used a Repel I found when exploring there earlier, so this was OK) and the Ravaged Path, but was eluded both times as Licorice's Return (and Peppermint's Confusion) was far too strong for both of them. Ah, I really wanted one...
With no other options, I took a brief respite to Twinleaf and caught a Magikarp (named Snapdragon). It is a bit difficult to train Snapdragon, and I am wishing I had used TM Return on him instead of Licorice.
I made my way to Floaroma and caught a Shellos at the Valley Windworks (named Dill). This is where I remain. Currently I am wondering which of my two new allies would be more advantageous to train.
More updates will arrive soon, sometime after I visit the Old Chateau.
