Very bittersweet moment.>Kanto companions are AJ and Katrina. AJ was a product of the writers still not entirely sure what the hell being a Pokemon trainer looked like which made him unique. Katrins is literally just because I needed a token female and her green hair lets me headcanon she and AJ are brother and sister.>Cyndaquil was the Pokemon the protag received in exchange for Graveler which is what spurs him on to explore the Johto region.>AJ and Katrina part ways with the protag when AJ decides he wants to become an official gym leader.>protag gets a Totodile from Professor Elm after it bites onto to the protags hands and just refuses to let go which is interpreted as wanting to travel with him>Porygon 2 has a long multi-regional subplot that goes all the way into Sinnoh and is connected to the events of Legends Arceus>the Johto companions are Lisa from the Entei movie and Miki who is in my opinion the most underappreciated Character of the Day ever. Since she's the one that taught Ash the training technique that he uses for the rest of the series.>Miki parts ways with the protag and Lisa after the Silver Conference and is replaced with Terrell and Marina, Colosseum Leaders from Poketopia who are on their way to the Hoenn region and invite the protag and Lisa to come with them.
