Before that and for the vast majority of human history fat was a sign of wealth because only rich people could afford to be fat. It the same thing with tanning, pale skin used to be attractive because it showed you had the wealth to stay inside a lot, poor people got deep tans from working outside all day. Now it is the opposite because "muh culture".
That being said fat people are disgusting and I don't invite them to raids.
