You could be embracing new favorites if you weren't so obsessed with the past. You already know a certain Pokemon is your favorite, why do you need to reinforce your own opinion by using it in every game? Are you so hollow that this is all it takes to define you? Your favorite Pokemon won't get mad at you if you go one game without using it, I promise.
