Corn isn't used in any of the top recipes right now, but it's valuable to making the strong dishes you can make mid-week without cooking pot upgrades.
Herbs aren't as useful at the moment, but are likely to be very relevant for curries in the future.
We'll get cooking pot upgrades in November when Amber Canyon unlocks, and there'll probably be 2 new Sleepdex goals to hit for 4 individual cooking pot upgrades, for a likely base maximum of 81 ingredients. Meaning you'll have a means of cooking Inferno Corn Keema Curries mid-week.
Incidentally, that fits well for running a herbs+corn Dragonite at Amber Canyon.
